Our Primary business is specializing in the processing of raw grain products into modern breakfast cereals. We offer expertise based on long experience in all the following areas:

  • The direct and indirect expansion (by puffing and extrusion) of all types of cereals.
  • The cooking, rolling and roasting of flaked products.
  • The coating, drying and cooling of coated products.
  • The mixing and baking of muesli-type and crunchy cereals.

We represent the highest quality equipment manufacturer and can help with all aspects of the process. Additionally we can assist with installation, automation, start ups, trouble-shooting existing equipment and technical consultation for any related problems.

Our long history and varied experience allow us to look outside of the box and add value to your existing operation as well as help integrate any new process or equipment into your business. We also work closely with people who can provide any equipment or building automation and associated panel fabrication.


BIO

1977 – 1980: Summer jobs with ADM, International Multifoods and Kearny County Land Co.

1980 – 1982: Production Coordinator, Quaker Oats, St. Joseph, MO. Scheduled and managed corn, oat and wheat flour mills.

1982 – 1988: Food Technologist, Kellogg Company, Battle Creek, MI. Helped develop new breakfast cereals and trouble-shoot problems on existing products. Helped develop, Raisin Squares, OJ’s, Crispix and Fruitful Bran cereals. Worked extensively with twin screw extruders, dryers, toasters and coating systems. Helped start-up the first twin extruder in North America in the food industry (1982). Formulated many different types of breakfast cereals and sourced raw material with proper specifications.

1988 – 2002: Food Technologist, Wenger Mfg, Inc., Sabetha, KS. New product and process development. Assisted sales force worldwide. Ran and coordinated pilot plant runs. Equipment start-up, product development and formulations work throughout the world. Specialized in single and twin screw start-ups, extruded product formulations, dryers, toasters and coating systems for all extruded products. Developed many food products and formulas for ready-to-eat breakfast cereals, breading, 3G snacks, textured proteins, snacks an many other foods, feeds and industrial products

1998-2006: Co-founder and Member Manager (owner) of USC, LLC Sabetha, KS. Website: www.uscllc.com. Designed, built and sold coating systems, dryers and toasters. Rebuilt and started-up used single and twin screw extruders

2006-Present: Established ESS Ventures, LLC to sales rep food processing equipment in North America and offer consulting, start-up and formulation services to the food industry.
